Wedding photography packages explained
Package names are not comparable until you know the hours and what is included. This page uses the October 2026 survey of public price pages, surveyed 4 October 2026. This site does not sell the packages.
A UK full-day digital-only package (no album, second photographer or video flagged on the extract) had a median of £1,500 in an October 2026 survey of public photographer price pages (n=2,057; middle half £1,195 to £1,900; about £175 an hour, n=1,008, middle half £130 to £219). Half-day coverage of 4 to 5 hours had a median of £850 (n=836; middle half £650 to £1,100; about £190 an hour, n=836). Elopement or register-office coverage of 1 to 2 hours had a median of £450 (n=511; middle half £350 to £597). Surveyed 4 October 2026. A local median is published only when n is at least 5. About 70% of these UK headline packages do not say whether an album is included (69.9%, n=1,438).
A practical way to compare
- Short coverage of 1 to 2 hours, including many register-office and elopement bookings. Median £450 (n=511; middle half £350 to £597).
- Half day, 4 to 5 hours. Median £850 (n=836; middle half £650 to £1,100). Six-hour packages are not in this row.
- Full day, digital only. Median £1,500 (n=2,057), about £175 an hour (n=1,008). No album, second photographer or video flagged in the anchor definition.
- Full day with extras. An album add-on has a median of £350 (n=734). A second photographer has a median of £370 (n=776). An engagement shoot has a median of £275 (n=764). An extra hour has a median of £175 (n=681).
Shoot and burn
Some low prices are for lightly edited files delivered quickly. Read the shoot-and-burn note and ask how many images you actually receive.
What to line up before you compare
Have your date, venue and budget ready, plus a rough hour count. If you are unsure of the hours, use the half-day and full-day rows above rather than a package title.
Town and county pages link back here. Local medians, where n is at least 5, use the same full-day idea and are explained in the methodology.
Questions
Does a package price include an album?
Not in the anchor figure. Full-day digital-only excludes packages flagged as including an album or a second photographer. 69.9% of the headline packages do not say whether an album is included (n=1,438), so a quote can still add one. The album add-on median is £350 (n=734).
What if the photographer only advertises a starting price?
Of 5,088 websites the survey could classify, 14.6% show only a from-price and 44.2% show full package prices. A from-price is not the full-day digital headline. From-prices that do qualify as full-day digital are 19.0% of that headline (n=390).
