How much does a wedding photographer cost in the UK? (2026)
A UK full-day digital-only package (no album, second photographer or video flagged on the extract) had a median of £1,500 in an October 2026 survey of public photographer price pages (n=2,057; middle half £1,195 to £1,900; about £175 an hour, n=1,008, middle half £130 to £219). Half-day coverage of 4 to 5 hours had a median of £850 (n=836; middle half £650 to £1,100; about £190 an hour, n=836). Elopement or register-office coverage of 1 to 2 hours had a median of £450 (n=511; middle half £350 to £597). Surveyed 4 October 2026. A local median is published only when n is at least 5. About 70% of these UK headline packages do not say whether an album is included (69.9%, n=1,438).
The anchor price on this site is that full-day digital-only median, shown with the per-hour figure beside it. We do not lead with the cheapest package or with a photographer's advertised from-price. From-prices are 19.0% of the headline set (n=390). Dropping them leaves the median at £1,500 (n=1,678; middle half £1,195 to £1,850).
Of 5,088 websites the survey could classify, 44.2% show full package prices, 14.6% show only a from-price, and 41.2% show no wedding price. 49.0% of the headline full-day packages have stated hours beside the price (n=1,008).

The elopement row is packages whose page states 1 or 2 hours. It is not every page that uses the word elopement. Six-hour packages are not in the half-day row. 274 packages described as an elopement or register office did not state hours, and they are not in the £450 figure.

More reviews are not a recommendation. About 70% of these UK headline packages do not say whether an album is included (69.9%, n=1,438).

What the survey cannot tell you
It cannot tell you the price for your date. It does not publish a weekday discount. Town pages show a local full-day digital median only when at least 5 photographers in that town had one. Method and the album caveat: methodology.
How to pay less without guessing
- Book fewer hours, and make sure the quote states the hours. A half day of 4 to 5 hours had a median of £850 (n=836). An elopement or register office of 1 to 2 hours had a median of £450 (n=511).
- Choose digital files without an album if an album is optional. The album add-on median is £350 (n=734).
- Ask whether a second photographer is included. The second-photographer add-on median is £370 (n=776).
- Get more than one quote for the same hours and the same deliverables.
We do not vet the photographers who reply. Read how quote matching works and five questions to ask before you pay a deposit.

Questions
What is a full-day digital-only package?
In this survey it is the cheapest package on a photographer's site that is a full day (stated as 7 or more hours, or called a full day when hours were not verified) and is not flagged as including an album, a second photographer or video. Unknown flags stay in. 69.9% of the headline packages do not say whether an album is included (n=1,438). See the methodology.
Why is the per-hour figure shown as well?
The full-day digital median is £1,500 (n=2,057). The surveyed per-hour median for those packages is £175 (n=1,008; middle half £130 to £219). Shorter bookings are easier to compare once the hours are stated.
Is a half day the same as a cheap full day?
No. A half day of 4 to 5 hours had a median of £850 (n=836; middle half £650 to £1,100). It is labelled with the hours so it is not confused with the full-day median.
Do you publish an elopement price?
Yes, for packages whose page states 1 or 2 hours. The median is £450 (n=511; middle half £350 to £597; surveyed 4 October 2026). Packages that use the word elopement but do not state hours are not in that figure.
